Director Cass Bird takes her inimitable lens to Chrissy Miller’s latest Sophomore collection, in a new improvised video depicting a game of “truth or dare”. Starring Chloë Sevigny, PJ Ransone, Jen Brill, Leslie Arfin, and few of their friends, the documentary style mimics Madonna’s adult antics in the classic Alek Keshishian film Madonna: Truth or Dare (1991). Similar to the designers’ Spring 2010 lookbook video, which tore a page out of Ruth Leitman’s proto-feminist Wildwood, NJdocumentary of 1994, the reference is merely a jumping off point for some off-the-cuff antics that here include impulsive tattooing, onion chopping, girl-on-girl M/O action, and some experimental shaving courtesy of Jen Brill. The fun is nearly interrupted when actress Drea De Matteo and husband Shooter Jennings ask the gang to pipe down so they can put their daughter to bed in an adjacent suite. However, perhaps enticed by the innocent dares—or the clothes—they join them on the bed instead.
