Session Kit is the home of fashion-led hairstyling essentials. Founded by Anna Chapman, a London-based session stylist and assistant in Guido Palau’s core team, the online store was born from the frustration of being unable to easily get hold of the best products used backstage for shows and photoshoots. AnOther has enlisted Chapman to produce a series of tutorials, demonstrating how to recreate editorial-worthy hair at home.

“It all started because I was frustrated that I couldn’t get any of the right tools in the UK,” explains session stylist Anna Chapman over the phone, just ahead of the Dolce & Gabbana A/W17 couture show where she has been busy fixing fresh flowers into the coiffures of the models. “I was working with Eugene Souleiman at the time, and he had these amazing Japanese grips in his kit. I remember I used one grip and the whole style was secure. I couldn’t believe how strong they were and I knew I had to find them for my own kit, yet they were impossible to source.” With a little bit of detective work, Session Kit was born.

Starting with the holy grail of hair pins, the online store now comprises an ever expanding roster of products, each with the session stylist seal of approval. There is nothing for sale on the store that the entrepreneur hasn’t personally used and loved herself, and likewise, such revered industry names as Duffy and Gary Gill count themselves fans of her high-end tools and accessories, that Chapman discovered through stints working on the likes of Prada and Marc Jacobs shows. Most of the items included have been sourced globally, making Session Kit the first one-stop shop for the trade’s best quality, and most unusual, tools.
