It was all about the hair and make-up at Christian Dior and Vivienne Westwood on day three of Paris fashion week. Where models at Dior looked distinctly polished in their retro curled hair and bright red lipstick, at Westwood the look was rather more dishevelled with models’ hair and faces brushed with white strokes of paint. Dior’s S/S11 collection had a nautical and Hawaiian feel as John Galliano served up sailor hats, navy and white coats and tropical printed dresses with leis – he even closed the show in his own black, red and white sailor’s outfit. Westwood’s eccentricity came out in full force, with an eclectic mix of prints, patterns and cuts gracing the catwalk. From quirky tailoring to unusual draping each look was uniquely styled – including face-paint and rather creepy fabric masks with eyeholes and mouth straps on several of the models.
