Jane How talks to us about the ideas behind her shoot with Alasdair McLellan in the next issue of AnOther Magazine

Over the past six years, Alasdair McLellan and Jane How have produced some of the most piercing and personal fashion stories in the industry. They share their honest and simple vision in the upcoming issue of AnOther. Here we show a preview of the what’s to come and Jane How tells us about the ideas behind the shoot.

Jane How: The fashion point of view of the story was denim, but alongside that I think it was about doing something honest. We wanted it to be straight-forward, without a narrative, more a study of something simple – it wasn’t about the girl or what she was doing. For reference, you look at something that inspires you, but it’s not set in stone, it’s just a feeling. You always want to make it you, or your version of something. Things always come around: they go around; they come around. At the end of the day my work with Alasdair follows a natural progression: we both visualize in the same way. And one of the nice things about Alasdair is that he still shoots in film, so you still have that buzz you don’t get with digital when you walk out of the studio knowing exactly what you’ve captured. With film you still have that surprise.
