A Visual Study of Lipstick Sexuality

Bitten, snapped, sliced: we showcase a titillating exploration of lipsticks

There is nothing quite as suggestive lipstick protruding from its tube – and Paul Kroskos' photographic series is a strangely titillating example, testament to the fact. Shot in monochrome so as to focus one's attention on the (thoroughly phallic) form itself rather than its shade, his is an almost pornographic rendering of sexuality, contrasting the shape of the tubes against their traditionally feminine application. "Many cosmetics come in beautifully designed packages, but often the products themselves are gorgeously shaped as well," Krokos explains – and his five images, slicing, biting and snapping the waxy cylinders remind us of just that. Enjoy.
