Gareth Pugh x Wayne McGregor

Bodies are abstracted, enmeshed and transported into the unknown, in this fluid choreography of linear distortions and brittle textures

English-born fashion designer Gareth Pugh made his industry debut in 2005 when he showed with Fashion East at London Fashion Week. His work over the past decade has redefined modern luxury through its experimental use of materials. Renowned for his creations of sculptural forms and their dramatic presentation both on the runway and through film, Pugh first collaborated with Ruth Hogben in autumn/winter 09 for a landmark film screening in lieu of a fashion show. They have since become regular creative partners, most recently on the film that opened his autumn/winter 15 runway show.

Wayne McGregor CBE is a multi-award-winning choreographer and director, esteemed for his physically testing choreography and ground-breaking collaborations across dance, film, music, visual art, technology and science. He is Artistic Director of Studio Wayne McGregor, Resident Choreographer of The Royal Ballet and Associate Artist of Sadler’s Wells. He and Pugh are long-time collaborators, having worked together on McGregor’s 2012 production of Carbon Life and more recently Pugh’s spring/summer 15 presentation.

Ruth Hogben is a filmmaker and photographer based in London, whose work has been published in magazines such as AnOther, Dazed, LOVE and W.
