We consider Atea, a new line channelling cool minimalism

Who? Atea translates to ‘Distant and remote’ and offers a wardrobe of minimalist clothing that runs with the tagline ‘everything with everything.’ Founded by Laura Myers, the brand recently launched their concept of an online flagship store.

What? The collection features relaxed silhouettes and architectural clean cuts: white chambray shirts, blazers and circle skirts that finely tie a boyish charm with femininity. There is an insouciant uniformity, with emphasis placed on collars and lapels. Detail is found in the tuck of a shirt or on a rolled cuff, placed on a button-down batiste shirt or a wool tunic. Using a subdued, neutral colour palette, heritage styles are given a sportswear edge through the use of fabrics including wool mousse and washed silk.

Why? Atea works with a close group of contributors to project their style, including Theo Sion and Alice Goddard. The latter are the founders of Hot & Cool, a London-based magazine inspired by 90’s grunge and sportswear street style. Goddard’s own signature look is often akin to Atea’s yarn of simplicity.
