There’s something slightly grisly about Miharayasuhiro’s spring/summer 2013 menswear collection, inspired by David Lynch’s cult road movie Wild at Heart. The ink drippage print reinterprets traditional Japanese calligraphy, minus the delicacy. The bold, gestural lines evoke a new-age spiritualism, while recalling Pollock, Twombly, and Lynch’s messy shotgun beheading of one lecherous Bobby Peru. Artist Jun Inoue, who was responsible for the red and black splatters, also created a matching backdrop for the finale, furiously live-painting his signature "shodo" graffiti as the show went on.
