Whilst we can only imagine what glamorous thieves would be seen out wearing Marc Jacobs’ 46-look range that includes shiny luminescent and sheer plastic garments or Louis Vuitton’s risqué night porter-themed collection, we predict that in light of

Not long after Marc Jacobs cancelled his London press day due to the theft of the spring/summer 2012 collection during its transfer from Paris, several hundred thousand euros’ worth of Louis Vuitton merchandise was stolen from the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport on the outskirts of Paris on November 25. According to reports, five masked thieves took down a security guard and four employees at the airport’s freight terminal overnight on the Friday, making off with around 10 pallets of merchandise.

Whilst we can only imagine what glamorous thieves would be seen out wearing Marc Jacobs’ 46-look range that includes shiny luminescent and sheer plastic garments or Louis Vuitton’s risqué Night Porter-inspired collection, we predict that in light of these recent thefts A/W12 will be trending Burglar Chic.

"We predict that in light of the recent Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton collection thefts, A/W12 will be trending Burglar Chic"

For A/W11 the dominance of the polka dot came courtesy of Stella McCartney and Jacobs himself, however for A/W12 we forecast the return of the stripe. Not the pinstripe, the Breton stripe or the pyjama stripe, but the burglar stripe. The it-bag of the season will be the “SWAG”. Oversized, it will take the shape of a traditional bin liner and be held ruched at the top. It can be worn casually over the shoulder or slung by your side. As Martin Margiela masked his models’ faces for S/S09 with cotton guaze, allowing the focus to fall on the clothes, for A/W12 the balaclava offers a more practical solution. Continuing on the theme of Burglar Chic it also draws attention to the eyes and lips whilst keeping the wearer warm in the wintry months.

Whilst we do not endorse the activity of burglary be sure to wear your Burglar Chic with conviction. Dress up for the evening with a killer heel and accessorise with metal cuffs and gloves. On a more serious note, anyone with any information or the thefts has been invited to contact Marc Jacobs HQ – there's a reward.
