All of us have our own ideas as to what our dream house would be, however this week on the AnOther Loves stream it seems everyone has unanimously agreed with art director Rob Meyer’s most Loved choice of the ultimate in NYC real estate. A palatial sky rise studio apartment overlooking the urban cityscape of inner Manhattan – it is the ideal in urban living. With asking prices reaching $80 million for a penthouse in Central Park West, living in “the big apple” definitely comes with its expensive price tag. It is therefore unsurprising that a large number of city dwellers are top names in the industry and famous stars. Situated within just a block of one another are the homes of Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore and Bart Freundlich, Julian Schnabel; Calvin Klein; Annie Leibovitz; Heidi Klum and Seal; and Gisele Bundchen.

Here we caught up with Meyers to discuss extravagance within the home and dream living.

How did you come across this image of NYC real estate?
Somewhere trawling the interiors blogs during my Sunday morning in bed with tea and toast.

What made you love it?
Anything to do with NYC really. It’s my escape city.

On a real estate side: outrageous square footage, amazing scale, incredible views, double width sash windows, whitewashed 12" floorboards, deep window insets (I could get very geeky here – I blame growing up with an interior designer for a Mom). For me, it's very classic downtown NYC.

If you could buy anywhere in New York where and what kind of place would it be?
This place?!  Or one of the larger suites on the residents floors in The Hotel Chelsea, near to Aprils Hairdressers in room 303 and ideally with a chunk of the roof terrace – the communal space up there is so magical, especially watching the sunrise behind the Empire on summer mornings.

Where do you live at the moment?
A converted Rag factory in Whitechapel, East London, where I have lived for the last 8 years.

What is the most extravagant purchase you have made on a piece of furniture or an interior product for your home?
I'm pretty good with finding bargains to be honest – I picked up my 1960's Ercol suite (3 seater sofa and 2 chairs) at a carboot sale on Bradford's old airport runway for £50. (Actually I lie, my friends Mom did, I then convinced her to sell it to me).

My biggest interior extravagance is probably artwork: I bought a chunk of a Warhol Time Capsule in auction last year, which consists of various signed pieces of paraphernalia, from press releases, to show catalogues, and my personal – now framed over my desk – favourite piece is a thank you note from Andy to Bruce Weber, on an original address Interview Magazine compliment slip.

Are there any homewares you are particularly coveting?
At the moment, I'm really into Aesop's Mandarin, Rosemary and Cedar hand wash. And, as ever, Diptyque candles: Myrrh for spring, Opopanax for Summer and Pomander for the Autumn/Winter months.

What is your dream product to own?
Probably something completely decadent and pointless, like a Chanel surfboard.

What was the last thing you bought?
A new season white Supreme Skate Deck to add to my other white decks – from mono cult themed Palace to the gorilla styling of the 2007 Comme des Garçons deck series.

What is your favourite online shop?
I don't really shop online – I even get friends to do ebay for me – I much prefer the experience of actually going to shop. So, I suppose I check a lot of stuff out online, from LN-CC to Opening Ceremony, but then will always go in store to buy. I prefer the physicality of it, meeting people, and actually paying for it in person.
