To celebrate their 100th birthday, Italian fashion house Trussardi is organising a unique series of events centred around fashion, art, food and design; disciplines at the heart of Italian culture and the brand. Running as part of Pitti Immagine Uomo 79 in Florence, many of the centennial celebrations will also be open to the public.

Due to be unveiled tomorrow, the men's Trussardi dal 1911 collection for fall/winter 2011-12, designed by Milan Vukmoirovic will pay homage to the heritage and understated cosmopolitan luxury of the brand, which first  began in 1911 when Dante Trussardi opened a small artisan workshop producing leather gloves. Owing to quality of its raw materials and continuous improvement of leather-working techniques, in just a few decades Trussardi quickly became one of the world’s most successful manufacturers of leather goods, including being nominated official purveyor of the British Royal Family. Alongside the new men's collection, the show will play host to the house's key designs for men and women from the past 100 years, including the original gloves of the Dante Trussardi Glove Factory, automobiles, bicycles, airplanes, handbags and evening gowns and Trussardi Design chairs. In an unprecedented move for the house, the show will be live-streamed on trussardi.com at 19:00 UCT and a selection of products will be available to buy online.

The grand vaulted space of the Stazione Leopoldan in the heart of Florence will host , an exhibition featuring the work of artists including Italian sculptor Maurizio Cattelan, Swiss duo Fischli & Weiss, Swiss sculptor and installation artist Urs Fischer, 2001 Turner Prize winner Martin Creed, LA-based Paul McCarthy and Polish sculptor and performance artist Pawel Althamer. Incorporating neon writings, automobiles sprouting from the floor, a gigantic twenty-metre flying self-portrait, a bread house akin to those in Brothers Grimm fairytale, hot pink sculptures of presidents and intimate and melancholic portraits, the exhibition will open to the public on Thursday.

Haute cuisine will close the Florentine celebrations with a grand, unique event open to all, enlisting the gastronomic talents of Andrea Berton, the Executive Chef of Il Ristorante Trussardi Alla Scala. The renowned Milanese restaurant will relocate to Florence for a limited period and Berton will create a special anniversary menu, composed as a journey of the senses through the elements and techniques that have made the tradition and innovation of Italian cuisine.

The Trussardi dal 1911 Men’s Collection fall/winter 2011-12 fashion show will be live-streamed at 19:00 UCT on Trussardi.com. The 8½ exhibition, at Stazione Leopolda in Florence will open to the public on 13 January and will run until 6 February. Details about the Il Ristorante Trussardi Alla Scala dinner will be announced shortly here.
