Today is World AIDS day, and to mark the date in support of Product (RED), AnOther Loves will be awash with luxury products in shades of burgundy, cherry and maroon.

(RED) will be mapping global World AIDS Day activity on Facebook, Twitter, foursquare, Flickr, Meetup and YouTube. Each social networking action, such as changing your profile picture on Facebook or tweeting #turnred on Twitter, helps to turn a time zone on the map red. The more activity in that time zone, the deeper the color, and the more their message is spread.

(RED) is a simple idea that transforms our collective power as consumers into a financial force to help sufferers of HIV and AIDS. Since its launch in 2006, (RED) has generated over $160 million for the Global Fund, and over 5 million people have been helped by HIV and AIDS programs, supported by (RED) purchases.

This year, (RED) wish to raise awareness about a reality that is not well known – that HIV positive pregnant women can give birth to HIV-free babies. Along with many organisations in the global health community, (RED) are committed to the goal of ending mother-to-child transmission by 2015. Last year nearly half a million babies were born with HIV. By 2015, that number could be zero – creating the first AIDS-free generation in 30 years.

So, turn your profile red now and help the global fight against AIDS.
