“A sculpture by artist Duane Hanson entitled Supermarket Shopper.” Jeremy Scott

Duane Hanson is known for his hyper-realistic displays of American civilians, often playing up to the stereotype of the overweight and seemingly uneducated middle-American. This particular representation shows a woman popping out to the shops. Dressed in curlers and ill-fitting clothes, pushing a shopping trolley overflowing with fast food, while a cigarette hangs out of her mouth, it is a very typical Hanson creation. But it is a surprising and refreshing inspiration behind a fashion brand, where usually the focus is on a slimmer silhouette.
