Our London correspondent Lucia Davies asks some of the most influential people in fashion: what's your favourite thing about London fashion week?

Suzy Menkes: "Looking at all the great looking people: on the front row, the back row, around the shows."

Tracey Emin: "This show [Vivienne Westwood]: it’s the one thing I’ve been really looking forward to. I’ve got lots of friends doing shows, but I have been looking forward to Vivienne’s because I know there’s going to be a lot of clothes that are going to suit me; so it makes me excited about clothes and shopping and things like that. It sounds crap but it’s true!"

Vivienne Westwood: "I don’t know, I don’t like doing fashion shows actually – I always prefer the day after. I’m going to dinner with Pamela Anderson and my friend from Los Angeles who happens to be coming. There’s no party, I don’t think… but the models look great and it is exciting."

Alexandra Shulman: "It’s really exciting to see how the newer talent develops from season to season. For me that’s something I most enjoy, particularly about London as opposed to maybe Paris or Milan where I’m looking for more established designers."

Fred Butler: "Seeing the different people that come – the street style is the most interesting and inspiring thing about London and London Fashion Week."

Nicola Roberts: "Just seeing the next season’s collections – seeing and looking forward to what there is to wear. Topshop, House of Holland, Westwood, Anastase are my favourites."

Edie Campbell: "It’s my hometown and all the more exciting!"

Gemma Arterton: "Well I’ve never been to anything in London fashion week before; I don’t usually do that sort of thing so this is my first time. The best bit is seeing people that you haven’t seen for ages, sitting around – that’s always nice. And Mulberry was brilliant, some really nice designs."

Alexa Chung: "There’s usually some quite nice parties that go on, and I went to see Charles Anastase yesterday, which was really good."

Agyness Deyn: "I just arrived so this [House of Holland] is the best."

Susie Bubble: "Everything is really creative and inspiring. I have no particular favourites – I just want to try and see everything. You feel like everyone’s trying to push the boundaries a little bit more. Coming back from New York you get the feeling that London has a greater momentum. Everyone’s doing individual, new and different things. Take Cooperative Designs for example, putting a whole spin on that whole 20s flapper thing, which I’ve never seen done before."
