A succession of powerful collections including Marios SchwabLouise Goldin and Todd Lynn filled day five of London fashion week. Schwab’s Joan Jett inspired S/S11 show brought dishevelled cropped wigs and a grungy collection of leathers, plunging necklines and tattoo-like appliqués. Colours came in bright turqoise, tan, pale pink and classic rock star black, which also lined models’s kohl rimmed eyes. Strong angular shapes were present throughout Louise Goldin’s intimate presentation with sheer stripes across nearly all of her body-con pieces. Although more sporty, there was still a very sexy vibe with see-through panels and figure-hugging maxi dresses, leggings and miniscule tube skirts in bold red, black, nude and white. Naming his collection “Genesis Redux” Todd Lynn wanted his clothes to appear like new creatures. With angular tailored suits and dresses in luxury leathers, python panels and mirrored strips, as well as hoof-like shaped platforms – a futuristic, androgynous and metamorphosis notion was evoked. Colours came in low-key camel, sand, grey and black with metallic highlights forming a succinct show.
