The distinct monochrome aesthetic is a regular occurrence on the Tim Hamilton catwalk, and here it is again interrupted by the furiously passionate red last seen in his S/S10 collection. This image conjures up ideas of sophistication with a nod towards purpose. Are the swimming figures escaping or collectively going towards something? All the images are slightly tragic in their approach – the smoke, the unidentifiable swimmers and the fire – but what is evident given Hamilton’s previous outings is that the tragic will be transmuted into something that is beautiful and wearable with a contemporary edge.
