"For Spring 11, I was thinking about popsicle colours, Miami, Peggy Guggenheim and the perspective paintings of Mark Grotjahn. For me it's about a nuanced but crisp way of dressing with a bit of a madcap screw-up." Peter Som

Peter Som has used some unmistakable summer aesthetics to inspire his collection, including photography by Evelyn H. Lauder mixed with heady bohemia, in his reference to the legendary Peggy Guggenheim. A women known predominantly for her artistic insight, but who also lived a very provocative life.  Following on from her father’s death (on the Titanic) when at 21 she inherited his money leading to a life of financial, sexual and artistic freedom.

The last of Som’s references focuses on work by Mark Grotjahn, an abstract painter who focuses on bold geometric print to create a hypnotic focus that uses a central point to draw in the observer’s eye.

His reference image is simple yet effective, plain yet exceedingly alluring.  The irrevocable mis-match of influences along with Soms usual grace, charm and wearabilty is definitely something to look forward to.
