AnOther Magazine launches the A/W14 issue starring Kate Moss, with a flamboyant Mardi Gras celebration in partnership with Loulou's

Last night witnessed a flamboyant explosion of colour and culture, as the opening night of Mardi Gras week at Loulou’s united with the launch party of AnOther Magazine A/W14, hosted by cover star Kate Moss. The theme of the issue is Kate Moss: Never Enough, and it was the supermodel’s inimitable energy and exuberance, powered by the spirit of New Orleans Mardi Gras, that surged through the party.

Guests including Kate Moss, Alister Mackie, M.I.A. Gareth Pugh, Tim Blanks, Suzy Menkes, Edie Campbell, Alexa Chung, Sue Webster, Hamish Bowles and Mike Figgis were paraded through the club by a cavalcade of dancers and riotous music, into a magisterial and surreal Mardi Gras setting created by Immersive Cult. Riots of carnival beads cascaded down the walls, Hurricane Girls prowled at the door and a vividly striped master of ceremonies headed up the parade in a frenzy of twirling. Live and Let Die was the dress code, and guests recalled the spookiest Bond Film with feathers, facepaint, glitter, sparkle and voodoo, including host Kate as Bond Girl Solitaire.

A mixologist from New Orleans had been brought over to devise speciality cocktails provided by Absolut Elyx including the Absolut Moss: a twist on Kate Moss's favourite, the classic French ’76 – featuring Absolut Elyx vodka, St. Germain, lemon juice and Peychaud’s bitters, topped with champagne. Each room hosted another legend from New Orleans’ musical pantheon, including Washboard Chaz and his traditional band, Wendell Brunious, Horns and Hatchets and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux who played raucous, exhilarating sets before handing over the reins to Gaz Mayall’s Rockin’ Blues, Fat Tony and Soulwax.

Mardi Gras at Loulou's runs until September 19. AnOther Magazine A/W14, starring Kate Moss, is out now. For all of Ted Dwane's Mardi Gras images, and the story of finding the New Orleans' musicians, click here.
