Ahead of the launch of JOSEPH's inaugural bag collection, AnOther presents a day in the life of its favourite design...

She's elegant, unique, versatile, modern, a clever balance of hard and soft. And she's always by your side. Meet one of the bags in JOSEPH's inaugural eleven-piece collection. A collaboration between creative director Louise Trotter and technical consultant Katie Hillier, the highly-anticipated collection acknowledges the JOSEPH house codes: mixing hard with soft in a monochrome colour palette.

To celebrate the upcoming launch later this week (3 days and counting), AnOther presents a day in the life of our favourite shoulder bag with a shearling strap. Shot by photographer Atlanta Rascher, the still lives present the bag in various scenarios which reflect the various facets of the design.

The appeal of the bag lies in its wit and sleek charm. It's a chic black bag in soft nappa leather; it has two pockets overlayed with a single piece of bonded cow hide; it's juxtaposed with a Mongolian shearling strap. It's modern – one doesn't expect to have a playful strap on such a quietly elegant design – and is part of a movement in unexpected design details making nods to Surrealism. "We wanted to make sure the bags lived within the brand DNA and complemented the new collection, as well as sitting in their own right", explains creative director Louise Trotter. "I didn’t want to create an It bag, I wanted them to be real and practical."

The limited edition JOSEPH bag collection will launch exclusively online at 10am GMT on Friday June 7 and in limited supply in stores on June 10. More bags will be released later in the year, but take AnOther's advice: get in there early.
