Who? First entering the exclusive world of the Basel watch fair just ten years ago, the past decade has seen the house of Chanel confirm its position as one of the world’s foremost creators of luxury timepieces. This year, they return to Switzerland with an exclusive exhibition space dedicated to the craft of haute horlogerie, premiering three new watch designs.

What? Chanel’s 2013 display not only features upgraded versions of their classic watches, but also new watches created this season. The classic white J12 – the watch that cemented their reputation in 2003 when they first came to Basel – returns, with versions in black, white gold and the chromatic edition in titanium, along with the Flying Tourbillon, a stunning square framed in blue sapphires that can withstand the pressure of sports and weather. And there is a foray into the new with Chanel’s Mademoiselle Privé jewellery collection. Inspired by the intimate world of Gabrielle Chanel herself, a diamond encrusted band encircles a hand engraved watch face featuring the symbols and objects loved by the designer herself.

Baselworld runs from 25th April to 2nd May 2013.
