This week, London writer and curator, Francesca Gavin loved Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, designed by John Morgan. The design of this 2007 edition brings attention to the book’s original physical form and the engages with its publication history.
Why did you choose the book?
I've always been obsessed with the novel; it’s so gothic and brilliantly written – a great metaphor for our obsession with surface, vanity and hidden identity. I love John Morgan's bold typographic approach to graphic design so it was a perfect combination to highlight.
What's the last thing you bought?
A halterneck black dress from Sandro that looks very Studio 54.
What's your most treasured possession?
I'm not very materialistic (I lose everything) but I love my scrapbooks.
