We celebrate the week's Most Loved product on AnOther Loves, a pair of Cass floral ceramic sunglasses by A-morir...

Sunglasses have gone from being merely functional to becoming a fashion statement. Look no further than the fashion week front row where innumerable industry figures and celebrities can be seen donning the latest shades as they watch indoor catwalk presentations. So iconic are they as a fashion accessory that last year when Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld was spotted without his trademark dark glasses it made headlines.

Sunglasses have reached iconic status in popular culture too. Take film for example: where would Lolita be without heart shaped sunglasses? The Big Lebowski without yellow tinted aviators? Annie Hall without tortoise shell round rimmed glasses? True Romance without bright turquoise wayfarers? And Back To The Future without the silver strip wrap-around lenses? In music, Elton John has been heralded for his outlandish eyewear choices, most notably in the mid-70s when he wore oversized sunglasses on stage as part of his Captain Fantastic act. The Beatles’ John Lennon has become so synonymous with round, silver rimmed specs that the particular style is often referred to as “John Lennons”.

This week, the Most Loved product of the week is a pair of Cass floral ceramic sunglasses by A-morir, posted by Michael Kowalinski. Here, we speak to him about his sunglass style icons and the oversized round Louis Vuitton pair he dreams of...

What made you choose to Love these A-Morir sunglasses?
They have a free, unapologetically beautiful kind of attitude. I like clothes to be as unapologetically strong as the women who wear them.

Who can you imagine best pulling them off and what with?
Florence Welch, in an all-white look from Céline's S/S12 show.

Would you wear them – if so where to and what with?
In private, with nothing! In public, with a glossy floor length rain coat.

Who are your sunglass style icons and why?
Barry Humphries, as Dame Edna, really understood the importance of, as he called it, furniture for the face. I think true icons see the humour in everything.

What are your favourite sunglasses to wear and why?
I have a 70s reddish vintage pair that I bought in New York that are impossibly easy to wear.

Are there any current season sunglasses you are particularly lusting after?
The oversized round glasses – like two saucers – at Louis Vuitton.
