From Alexander McQueen’s Armadillos to Maison Martin Margiela’s Tabis and Prada’s banana heels, the more interesting silhouette a pair of shoes cuts on the catwalk the more memorable. With this in mind and in an attempt to distinguish between the variety of footwear offered up for this season, we present our field guide of A/W12 shoes through a series of diagrammatic silhouettes.

Dating back to the late 19th century, a field guide is a book designed to help the reader identify wildlife or other objects of natural occurrence. It is generally designed to be brought into the "field" or local area where such objects exist to help distinguish between similar objects.
