Every show season – no longer just bi-annual men's and womenswear, but pre-collections, cruise and couture – the internet becomes awash with fashion show imagery. Behind-the-scenes, front row, catwalk shots and street style documentation have become commonplace. Less celebrated are the cities and their unique landscapes that play host to the often week-long events.

Milan has hosted the bi-annual women's ready-to wear shows since 1958. Last week, photographer Lucija Hrvat captured some of the city's interesting and unusual sights en route to the spring/summer 2012 shows, from traditional Italian architecture to desolate railway tracks.
