The scaffolding set by British artist Graham Hudson was spare and the soundtrack was a coruscating one devised by Jack Donoghue of noisy dissidents, Salem; but the S/S 12 showing by Patrik Ervell was one of his most electric yet. The Hawaiian print (previously spotted at Altuzarra and Alexander Wang) also featured here in ghostly hues but Ervell’s fascination with remixing outerwear remains his strong point. The introduction of womenswear (first glimpsed on Kirsten Dunst at the CFDA’s) in immaculately cut tuxedo suits and leather shirts and dresses means now even more can enjoy the perverse charms of Patrik Ervell.

R.E.M frontman Michael Stipe on Patrik Ervell: “I always come to Patrik's shows because I think he has such a great vision. Often I feel like I’m too old to wear some of his clothes but I felt like I could really wear the looks. The introduction of womenswear – we haven't really seen that since Hedi Slimane at Dior. With a designer that has the aesthwetic and taste of Patrik or Hedi, it makes perfect sense. I’m always inspired by Patrik’s shows – I think he’s one of the best people showing in New York.”
