It is Miu Miu's new glitter, metal tipped and appliquéd crystalised sneakers that have shone brightest on the AnOther Loves stream this week. We speak to their Lover, AnOther editor Nancy Waters to find out more about her choice...
They say that the youngest child gets all the attention and recently we would have to agree. Despite both of Miuccia Prada’s fashion brands frequently dominating headlines, it has been Prada’s sister Miu Miu that has shone brightest on the AnOther Loves stream this week. For the A/W11 season, not only has the house provoked interest by casting 14-year-old True Grit actress Hailee Steinfeld in their campaign shot by Bruce Weber but the forties inspired collection is one of the designer’s most elegant collections to date. With slim, long-sleeved, and to-the-knee dresses cutting a sophisticated silhouette on the catwalk, in contrast with last season’s high-impact neon, the collection’s glitter-dipped heels provided the perfect punctuation – reinforcing Miu’s Miu’s youthful and eclectic character. This month the brand have also ingeniously launched a more wearable, day-to-day alternative with their new glitter, metal tipped and appliquéd crystalised sneakers. Coming in blush, black, gold and silver colourways – similar to the heels that graced the catwalk – it is a silver pair which are this week’s Most Loved product on AnOther Loves, as chosen by AnOther Magazine's editor Nancy Waters.
We speak to Waters about why she chose these sneakers and what other pieces she is coveting for A/W11...
What made you choose to Love this pair of Miu Miu sneakers?
Comfort, style, sparkly bits... what more can you ask from a shoe? They remind me of Michael Jackson's dance shoes. If you were ever feeling low wearing these, you'd look down and smile.
What would you wear them with and where would you wear them to?
Anything and anywhere. They're perfect for when you need something a little bit special that you can still run for a bus in.
What are your favourite pair of sneakers and when do you wear them?
I only own one pair of mucky old trainers, and they're strictly for training in. Not for public view.
Do you own any Miu Miu and are you coveting any of the brand’s pieces from their A/W11 collection?
I am saving my pennies for this tea dress. I love the colour, the length, the cut of the sleeve... it looks most amazing in this strangely brilliant film by Lucretia Martel on their website. Oh and in my dreams there is one other standout piece I would love to own, which may or may not be appearing on the cover of the upcoming issue of AnOther Magazine! The Miu Miu patent pumps I own are one of the best footwear investments I've ever made. I've had them for five years and wear them all the time and they still look new.
Hailee Steinfeld is the latest model to front Miu Miu’s A/W11 campaign – who has been your favourite Miu Miu girl?
Vanessa Paradis. I think Hailee is an amazing actress but to me she looks a little swamped in the clothes.
What was the last thing you bought?
03 by Lina Scheynius. It's a beautifully made little book of her personal photography work in a signed limited edition.
