Chanel toecap boots A/W11

It seems we are all lusting after a pair of Chanel toecap boots (available from September in satin and patent leather priced £800), the Most Loved product of the week on the AnOther Loves stream, picked by AnOther editorial assistant Lucia Davies.

Chanel is the epitome of casual elegance, sophistication and style. Since the French fashion house was first founded by courturier Gabreille “Coco” Chanel it has been renowned for creating exceptional haute couture and exquisite luxury goods. Coveted worldwide, Chanel No. 5 – the first perfume launched by Coco in the 1920s – generates sales of $100 million a year and is sold every thirty seconds, and season-on-season several pieces from their ready-to-wear, handbag and cosmetic collections make headlines, forming 1000-strong waiting lists. However for A/W11 it seems we are all particularly lusting after a pair of Chanel toecap boots (available from September in satin and patent leather priced £800), the Most Loved product of the week on the AnOther Loves stream, picked by AnOther editorial assistant Lucia Davies. As Chanel is most famous for the “little black dress” here at AnOther we are wondering whether the  “little black boot” may catch on? Timeless and classic these boots could make any outfit chic and with the iconic double-C monogram perfectly positioned on the toecap the wearer would be sure to impress fashionistas far and wide. Although the toecap may atypically be associated with workmen, used to protect toes from damage or injury on a worksite, the only place these boots will be hotfooting it to is Rue Cambon and catwalk front row.

Here AnOther talks Chanel, shoes and dream accessories with Davies.

Why did you choose to love the boots?
As much as I love heels and platforms in reality I spend most of my time in flats. These Chanel toe cap boots (obviously) tick all the boxes. This season the other pair that also do this for me are Prada’s brogue espadrilles – however the former have more of a subtle and understated elegance.

What qualities do you look for in a new pair of shoes?
I normally buy on impulse, which means I probably have over 40 pairs of shoes I hardly ever wear and end up in the same five pairs day-to-day.

If you owned these boots what would you wear them with?
I would wear them with a high-waisted black cigarette pant (Parisian chic) or simple little black dress and leather jacket (classic).

If you were designing an accessory for Chanel, what would it be?
Oo that’s a tough question. It’d probably have to be either a real statement piece like a pair of big gold Chanel monogram earrings inspired by some of their vintage styles; a mini bag – this season Chanel has a beautiful quilted version but it is just a bit too small, (I would want to tailor it to be exactly the right size: not too big or too small); or a Chanel rucksack/handbag with comfortable straps (not leather chains), I still have yet to find a fashionable, non-geeky and wearable rucksack.

What are your tips for looking after your shoes?
Make sure you always keep your leather shoes polished. Heel your shoes regularly – never let them wear down so much that they damage the actual sole of your shoe. Try not to wear your best shoes when going to a club or festival they WILL get ruined.

What was the last thing you bought?
Some herbs for my balcony. The dream is to be able to grow all my own veg – although I’m taking baby steps – herbs are the first part of making it happen.

What's your favourite online shop?
I prefer to buy most things in person, but amazon for every and any book and ebay for good finds.
