Journalist and Another Man senior contributing editor Tim Blanks is this week’s AnOther Lover with his Most Loved item of the week: Poster for the 64th Cannes Film Festival. A timely choice – this year’s Festival De Cannes runs from 11-22 May – it is also an iconic image featuring movie starlet Faye Dunaway photographed by her boyfriend of the time filmmaker Jerry Schatzberg, in 1970. “A model of sophistication and elegance, it is an embodiment of the cinematic dream that the Festival de Cannes seeks to maintain,” explains a spokesperson from the film festival. Whilst 2011’s line-up has already previewed some great new movies – Drive, Tree of Life, Polisse and We Need to Talk About Kevin – a restored presentation of Dunaway and Schatzberg’s 1970 film Puzzle of a Downfall Child will also be shown, with the pair both in attendance.

Renowned for his sartorial commentary on the latest catwalk collections, Tim Blanks turns his astute eyes to the world of motion pictures as we ask him about his favourite films, what he has been most looking forward to at Cannes and what makes the perfect leading actress.

What made you choose to Love this Poster for the 64th Cannes Film Festival?
I've always loved this portrait –  it looked even better as a gargantuan billboard looming over the riviera rooftops.

Are you a fan of any films by filmmaker Jerry Schatzberg or which feature actress Faye Dunaway?
I know Schatzberg directed Dunaway in her first film Puzzle of a Downfall Child. I never saw that, but I loved her in Bonnie & Clyde and Chinatown. Then she went kind of over the top.

Which films in this year’s Cannes Film Festival have you most been looking forward to?
We Need to Talk About Kevin. Love Tilda Swinton, dying to see how they turn that terrifying book into a movie – plus, it was produced by my neighbour Luc Roeg. Support your local producer, I say.

What is your favourite ever film and why?
Performance with Mick Jagger and James Fox. I want to live in that house, wear those clothes, take those drugs.

What makes the perfect leading actress and who is the epitome of this?
I like to be hypnotised by mad beauty, and Elizabeth Taylor in Suddenly, Last Summer and Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface do that for me every time.

What is on your wishlist for this season?
Something with a thin white ducal edge (though it will have to be in XL).

What was the last thing you bought?
The Robert Longo skate decks from Supreme.

Do you have a favourite online shop?
Amazon.
