Held in a darkened tomb, the Rock Vault was the treasure chest of London Fashion Week, featuring the fine jewellery of twelve designers chosen by the British Fashion Council. In collaboration with the International Palladium Board (IPB), the Vault challenged the selected dozen to craft a ring using one ounce of Palladium.

The Vault showcased jewellery from each designer’s SS13 collection: paying homage to the ‘Lear’s Macaw’ exotic bird, Jordan Askill’s ring linked wings with a matching cuff. He referenced “sentimentality, birth and the forest,” incorporating Swarovski gem embellishment.

Imogen Belfield’s angular statement ring glittered beside her Athena necklace. “The ring fits my latest warrior collection for SS13, where each piece is named after a superhero.”

“I wanted to do something magical, so I used the idea of cracking a jewel and filled it with diamonds.”

Husam El Odeh’s multi-functional ring was inspired by frozen flowers, dreams and mythical tales. “I wrote and illustrated a little fairytale for this season’s collection and put the ring in it,” explains Husam El Odeh. “I wanted to do something magical, so I used the idea of cracking a jewel and filled it with diamonds.”

Melanie Georgacopoulos used signature pearls within her design to create an unconventional knuckleduster: “there is something very sensual about pearls rubbing against the skin and at the same time being part of a knuckle duster,” she explains. Curling the palladium into looped bands, her collection was inspired by Bauhaus, Tokyo and the energy of London, reigned in by her intricate, architectural approach.
