Coloured Sheep at Latitude: Many sheep farmers identify their flocks by painting their fleeces. They use a special type of paint that doesn't go down further than a quarter of an inch, because you have to be able to scour the paint off if you are going to market to sell the wool.

Gilbert and George at The White Cube: When Gilbert and George moved into Fournier Street, it was because the monthly rent was £16, and the landlords didn't mind whether you slept in the building or used it as a studio. The area was run-down but is now occupied by other artists including Tracey Emin.

Jil Sander S/S12 brooch: From the eighteenth century through to the Victorian era, it was fashionable to incorporate hair and portraiture into a brooch. The practice began as an expression of mourning, then expanded to include keepsakes of loved ones who were living.

Party Rings: The Party Ring is a British biscuit first made by Fox's Biscuits in 1983. They were a product of the 1980s fashion for the newly developed chemical food dye system that enabled more lavish colours to be incorporated into the manufacture of biscuits. This made them a very popular choice for children's parties, where not only would the colours amuse, but the holes in the middle enabled them to be placed on a finger, often resulting in "ring races".

AnOther marks Wimbledon: The BBC was forced to apologise after many viewers complained about "over-talking" by its commentary team during the TV coverage of the event in 2011. It said in a statement that views on commentary were subjective, but that they "do appreciate that over-talking can irritate our audience". The BBC added that it hoped it had achieved "the right balance" across its coverage and was "of course sorry if on occasion you have not been satisfied".

Kate Moss' Star Apple tree at GoldenEye: A tradition, which was started by Sir Anthony Eden when he and his wife, Clarissa, planted a Santa Maria tree before departing from GoldenEye, is still ongoing. Today, there are hundreds of mango, lime, orange and ackee trees in the garden, each planted by a guest, with an accompanting plaque. A required $1000 donation goes to the Oracabessa Foundation.

Creative gardening in São Paulo: The concept of the green wall dates back to 600 BC with the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. The modern green wall was invented by Stanley Hart White at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1931-38. White holds the first known patent for a green wall, or vertical garden, conceptualising this new garden type as a solution to the problem of modern garden design.

Florence the cat has a Margiela moment: Maison Martin Margiela's S/S12 show was all about carpets. Whilst the floor covering was used in its traditional sense at the show – underneath the model’s feet on the catwalk – carpets were also constructed into a strapless dress, a long skirt, a shawl and boots.

AnOther on the beach: Whilst visiting Jamaica last month, commissioning editor Laura Bradley spent a good half hour perfecting the AnOther logo on the shore.

Celebratory blooms: The AnOther team loves a good bouquet. Pink roses represent love, gratitude and appreciation.

Deputy editor Nell Kalonji in YSl cage boots: These brilliant boots are from Stefano Pilati's A/09 collection and were inspired by the Eiffel Tower. They debuted in the fall 2009.
