The Dazed 100 spotlights the emerging creative forces who are shaping youth culture today – but this year’s edition arrives with a difference

Yesterday saw the launch of the 2020 edition of the Dazed 100 – though this year, the annual list of emerging creative forces comes with a difference. Dazed has teamed up with Converse for this year’s list, and a fund of £50,000 has been set up so that grants can be awarded to winning names. To this end, each member of the Dazed 100 presents a manifesto, filled with creative and philanthropic ideas for how they would use a grant.

From photographers, filmmakers, designers and musicians to writers, models, YouTubers and artists, each person on the Dazed 100 is championing their own unique and powerful creative agenda. Photographer Heather Glazzard hopes to make a short film; designer Saul Nashwho recently spoke to AnOther about dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic – envisions a three-day performance with dancers and musicians; and musician and writer Arlo Parks wants to publish a book of poetry about adolescence.

As so much creative work has been halted by the coronavirus pandemic, it’s invigorating to read about the people and ideas shaping youth culture today. Winners – unlike previous years, there will be more than one winner of the Dazed 100 this year – can be voted for online over the coming weeks. Watch the Dazed 100 2020 manifesto film below.
