When it comes to dreamy swimwear inspiration, these are the accounts you need to follow

Once you’ve accrued holiday destination inspiration from Instagram and (hopefully) booked an escape, be sure to return to the app once more to perfect your vacation wardrobe. This Friday we’ve lined up three swimwear brands whose brilliant feeds provide both shopping and styling inspiration in one fell swoop, courtesy of campaign imagery, stills from legendary films and iconic works of art.

@herthelabel

Sydney-based swimwear brand Her makes garments “for the modern woman” in chic shades and shapes: think dusty pink or pastel blue two pieces, and swimsuits rendered in black and white. This kind of pared back but covetable cool is carried over into its Instagram, @herthelabel, too. Interspersed with dreamy images of the label’s designs in situ are beachy inspiration shots in which Hockney-esque swimming pools reflect sunlight and nude swimmers dart through a deep red sea.

@ack_work

Scrolling through ACK’s Instagram account, it becomes clear that swimwear need not be reserved for water-based activities. The Italian brand’s S/S17 campaign took to the streets, showcasing its bikinis and swimming costumes – this season, created in collaboration with artist Ana Kraš – in the midst of a concrete jungle. It’s this unorthodox approach that sets @ack_work apart from the crowd; the pieces themselves, in zingy greens and primary reds and blues, feature surprising details like thick straps, circular adornments and contrast stitching. If there were ever a case for swimwear-as-daywear, @ack_work might just be it.

@_ephemera_

Despite its namesake noun, it seems impossible that Ephemera’s classic swimwear could ever be thought of as short-lived or fleeting. Its gingham two pieces have become a firm fashion favourite, as have its insta-ready cut-out swimming costumes, with low scooped backs. But it's the curation of @_ephemera_’s Instagram feed that has caught our eye. Cited as the “visual diary” behind the brand, each of the account's posts is as delightfully enticing as the next. From a sun-kissed Lana Turner relaxing poolside – complete with pink swimsuit, erratic straw hat and dangling cigarette – to impossibly fabulous film stills from the likes of The Talented Mr Ripley (1999) and Jacques Deray's classic La Piscine (1969), @_ephemera_ is swimwear #goals epitomised.
