There was much to celebrate last night as Somerset House threw open its doors for the launch of the retrospective exhibition Making It Up As We Go Along, curated by editor-in-chief Jefferson Hack and former Dazed photographic editor Emma Reeves and featuring the highlights of 20 years of groundbreaking fashion and features photography from Dazed & Confused magazine. The event, sponsored by the brand new Motorola RAZR, also saw the launch of the eponymously titled book, published by Rizzoli co-edited by Hack and Jo-Ann Furniss.

Guests, clutching champagne and Absolut vodka Swedish Kiss cocktails, strolled through the installation, admiring the work, and mixing with a heady array of personalities from the worlds of fashion, music, art and film, including Dazed co-founder Rankin, Kate Moss, Michael Stipe, Bobby Gillespie, Katie Grand, Juergen Teller, Peter Blake, Tom Vek, Sadie Frost, Kaya Scolodario, Paloma Faith and Gareth Pugh. Gemma Arterton, Amber Le Bon and Cara and Poppy Delevinge looked radiant, dressed head to toe by event sponsors All Saints.

Following the soiree, guests were chauffered to the glamorous environs of the W Hotel in the special Dazed & Confused 20th anniversary fleet of Mercedes Benz cars, filled with bumper birthday gift packs from M.A.C. cosmetics. Here the party continued until the early hours, fuelled by a bespoke cocktail created specially for the event and titled Absolut Dazed, beer from Peroni and Ty Nant water. Karaoke, provided by Playstation Singstar, was a hugely popular attraction on the second floor, and DJ sets by Seb Chew & Leo Greenslade from Yo Yo, Chris Bletzer and fashion designer Pam Hogg, with all the antics captured on the RAZR and flashed up on screens around the room. Lucky VIPs left at the end of the night with a brand new RAZR in hand, pre-loaded with cyber versions of the anniversary book.
