Five sonic crusaders grace the covers of Another Man S/S17: Oliver Sim from The xx, Faris Badwan from the Horrors, George and Jack Barnett from These New Puritans, and Elias Bender Rønnenfelt from Iceage

Today, Another Man S/S17 hits newsstands. For this issue – which is titled ‘Sonic Universe’ – the reader is invited to join the magazine on a path towards illumination.

A quintet of sonic crusaders star on the covers. First up, it’s Oliver Sim from The xx, who is photographed by Alasdair McLellan and styled by Another Man’s creative director, Alister Mackie. Speaking to Paul Moody in the run-up to the band’s I See You tour, Sim reflects on the new album, the relationship between fashion and music, and his newfound sobriety.

Then there’s The Horrors’ Faris Badwan, who is changing the record once more. Photographed by rising star Ethan James Green and styled by Alister Mackie, he talks to Olivia Singer about his music, how he makes it and why he believes there’s no place for nostalgia in his creative process.

Nearing completion on a new album, the twins behind These New Puritans, George and Jack Barnett are photographed by McLellan, styled by Mackie and interviewed by Paul Moody. And, lastly, American artist Elizabeth Peyton presents a special cover starring the frontman of Danish punk rock band, Iceage, Elias Bender Rønnenfelt.

Elsewhere in the issue, Jarvis Cocker invites everyone to join him in the collective dreamworld of Carl Jung’s The Red Book; Wild Daughter’s James Jeanette meets Warhol wonderboy and Mapplethorpe muse David Croland for a personal odyssey; and introducing Lias Saoudi’s Moonlandingz alter-ego and the filthy saviour of pop, ‘Johnny Rocket’.

Elsewhere, ravers, travellers and truth seekers go on a trip in the best from the S/S17 collections; a Prada happening in a sacred Italian wood, photographed by Brett Lloyd and styled by Charles Jeffrey; fashion spotlights on Kent & Curwen, Paul Smith and Fendi; magic crystals, pyramids of light and the Summer of Love.

Plus: a 32-page psychedelic document featuring a tour inside London’s College of Psychic Studies; the Dalí of Danish jewellery; the mad scientist who dropped acid with dolphins; the glittering granddaddy of queer cinema Jack Smith; Mati Klarwein’s mini-portal to another dimension; the Dutch design troupe who turned Swinging London technicolour... and more!
