Susanna Lau has an abiding infatuation with pastel colours (as her Instagram feed attests), but this season a deeper shade of green caught her eye, in the form of an MCM Milla Tote. “It’s a very calming hue, I would call it forest green,” she notes. “I like the colour when combined with the yellow that features on the inside of the long strap – plus, there’s a pop of pastel on the wallet.”

As one might expect, Lau’s carryall of choice contains all the trappings of a globetrotting fashion writer and editor. “I always carry headphones. They’re good for transcribing on-the-go and also being anti-social when you want to be,” she says. Makeup too, provides a pick-me-up: “At the moment, I’m obsessed with lip-stains,” she adds. “This shade is called Baby Doll by Yves Saint Laurent, it’s not a very me name, but the red works.”

The most vital components in her handbag-arsenal are technological, however. “I carry a Bluetooth keyboard that links up to my phone so I can type faster, and I make sure my camera has a WIFI-enabled SD card so I can get photos onto my phone really quickly,” explains Lau. “Catwalk images taken on the phone are generally not that great, which is why I carry a camera – either a compact point and shoot or a DSLR.” And, of course, no bag of Bubble’s would be complete without a charm or two. “I think it’s a really Hong Kong thing to want to carry an animal charm on the bag. I suppose it’s our innate obsession with anything cute or cartoon-esque.”
