With her androgynous grunge style and long gaze, Athena Wilson is this season’s hot commodity. Recognisable by her 60s throwback bob haircut and bleached eyebrows, she has walked this season for Rick Owens, Marc Jacobs, Christopher Kane, Versus and Fendi amongst others, as well as opening for Creatures of the Wind. AnOther Caught up with Athena to talk about what keeps her ticking during fashion week.
What is your favourite place in Paris?
This season was my first time in Paris, and with such a hectic schedule, I didn't have much chance to explore or discover a favorite place. From the car I can see all of the beautiful buildings and art and people – there is always something to be in awe of. I am definitely coming back once I have the time to experience Paris without rushing.
What is your survival food during fashion week?
Whatever is free at castings and shows and late night fittings! I’ve had lots of apples and trail mix. Sometimes there's catering and then it’s really a party!
What is on your bedside table?
My bedside table at home: Neosporin, band aids, a cup of tea, a cup of tea from the night before, a book (currently reading S is for Space, a collection of short stories by Ray Bradbury) nasal spray, headphones, earrings, an old magazine i haven't moved since the first day i moved in, a large tupperware cylinder for water. My bedside table in my hotel: a phone, which I moved to the floor because i don't like having phones or clocks or computers around where I sleep. An extra set of sheets – I thought the bed didn't have them so I called the front desk and requested some then realised there were, in fact, sheets on the bed. It was a wild night. A music box my mom gave me that plays La Vie en Rose. It has a little girl hugging an angry cat on it – I like it very much.
