Unexpected bedfellows, Jimmy Choo and noir kei ninomiya present a capsule collection that melds two entirely different universes – two extremes brought together
Jimmy Choo and noir kei ninomiya make unexpected bedfellows – one known for eye-popping glamour and dressing princesses both real and soi-disant, the other for an extreme avant-gardism in technique and silhouette that results in clothes where, as the designer told AnOther back in 2018, “the only stitching is on the label.” Yet both Ninomiya and Choo’s creative director Sandra Choi are united by their love of craft and pushing ideas to an extreme – “creativity without borders or boundaries” according to Choi – hence a collaboration that winds up a crashing together of two entirely different universes, extremes brought together. Debuted as part of the noir kei ninomiya Spring/Summer 2026 catwalk show in Paris, the capsule includes neat little handbags, three unexpectedly fetishistic harnesses, and of course a selection of shoes. For these, precise and hyper-traditional menswear brogues and loafers in polished leather with boxy toes and welted soles are the uniting silhouette, albeit entirely contradicted with delicate Jimmy Choo ‘Drop’ heels, like frozen drizzles of liquid holding the whole shoe up. These are either presented stand-alone, as paradoxical spindles barely holding the weight or, in this stand-out instance, encased in a plexiglass outer heel like a preciously preserved specimen. Precious is the word, given that the heel itself is a pavé of crystals artfully hidden underfoot.
The Jimmy Choo noir kei ninomiya collaboration is available at select retailers and a curation of global Jimmy Choo and Dover Street Market boutiques.
