In a new campaign film for the Chanel 22 bag, South Korean pop sensation Jennie brings French chic to Seoul
On March 21, Chanel unveiled their sun-soaked campaign imagery for the 22 bag featuring Jennie, member of the record-breakingly successful South Korean girl group, Blackpink, captured by Inez & Vinoodh. Today, a day ahead of the official release, AnOther is exclusively revealing the campaign film which features Jennie again, this time leading the lens through the streets of Seoul – where she was born.
Appearing alongside former AnOther Magazine cover star Margaret Qualley, breakout star of Gossip Girl Whitney Peak, and actress-cum-model Lily Rose Depp, Jennie joins a star-studded roster. Having previously ventured through Los Angeles, Palm Springs and New York for their campaign films, the South Korean capital is the latest backdrop captured by Inez & Vinoodh. “It was Inez & Vinoodh’s first time in Korea and I hope they have only happy memories,” the singer says of the experience.
A Chanel ambassador since 2017, the pop sensation epitomises the uniquely cosmopolitan air that is inextricable to the French heritage label. Under Virginie Viard’s pure and romantic vision for the house, the creative director connects with women through a sense of softness and a sweet and uncomplicated simplicity that sustains Chanel’s well-established codes. These codes follow through with the design of the 22 bag; created last year, it is made from a supple quilted leather, with an interlaced metal chain drawstring, combining a classic handbag with a spacious, on-the-go purse.
“Inez & Vinoodh call me my girl. It’s comforting because they see me as a young woman, not just Jennie in the spotlight. As a member of Blackpink, I’m constantly in the spotlight, but these images are an accurate representation of who I really am,” says Jennie of the collaboration. “Virginie Viard’s vision is perfectly embodied by this bag. The Chanel 22 bag reflects her unique aura.”
