Regardless of whether you dread it or count down the days to its arrival, the most romantic day of the year is nearly upon us: Valentine’s Day. If you’re in the market for something sparkly, to give a loved one or perhaps better still, yourself, Swarovski has got you covered: the crystal jewellery house has released a new collection that marries the shimmering codes of its 128-year history with the spirit of the annual love festival.

The special release reconfigures two hallmark motifs associated with Valentine’s Day – the bow and the love heart, so that snaking ribbons and fluid hearts are twisted into contemporary crystal-encrusted shapes. The collection arrives in two distinctive ‘families’ of designs, Volta and Matrix, from which a plentiful array of necklaces, rings, earrings and bangles made using pavé and chattonage techniques are available to shop.

To celebrate its arrival in stores, Swarovski invited AnOther Magazine to collaborate on a photo story inspired by the romantic collection. Rising London-based photographer Clark Franklyn and AnOther’s senior fashion editor-at-large Agata Belcen teamed up, creating a portfolio of images that capture the collection’s shimmering pieces against a blushing hot-pink backdrop.

Imagining a cinematic version of date night, Belcen and Franklyn’s shoot echoes the mood of the brand’s pink-themed Valentine’s Day campaign, which rolled out globally this week. The photo story also marks a flirty follow-up to Swarovski’s AnOther Magazine Spring/Summer 2022 cover story, which captured British model Fran Summers dripping in the Austrian jeweller’s ethereal crystals in a shoot brought to life by Elizaveta Porodina and Katie Shillingford.

The Valentine’s Day collection, says Swarovski, is not merely a celebration of romantic love or the act of gift giving. “Whether it’s through self-expression, a celebration of friendship, or a revelation of deep emotion, Swarovski invites you to express yourself through its creations,” the brand said in a statement in tandem with the collection’s debut.
