It’s about time one of Givenchy’s panther-themed autumn/winter 2011 collection pieces has made the top AnOther Love of the week slot. Last week Givenchy’s panther glasses came in at a close second and on previous weeks the bomber jacket, suitcase and scarf have all scored highly on the AnOther Loves stream. As Givenchy’s autumn/winter 2011 show opened with a roar it was a strong signifier for what was to come: references to the black cat appeared throughout the collection and have since dominated fashion columns and cupboards. It’s not as if cats have been shy of the catwalk for previous seasons – just take a look at spring/summer 2011 where the cat-eye was the sunglass shape of the season as seen at Alexander Wang, Prada, Giles, Dior and more. And whilst no-one will forget Miu Miu’s cutesy cat print for spring/summer 2010, Givenchy’s display of the feline is arguably one of fashion’s best. Yes we too are r(o)aring to be wearing Givenchy just like Natalia Vodianova, Kristen McMenamy and Naomi Campbell are in the seductive campaign shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot. Here, we speak to the AnOther Lover of the week fashion consultant Mandi Lennard of Mandi’s Basement about her pick of this Givenchy panther hat.

Where did you find this Givenchy panther hat?
As soon as I saw it on colette's website, I jumped.

Why did you decide to Love it?
It hits the season in the face.

Where would you wear it and what would you team it with?
I'd live in it. I'm still deliberating as it's pricey. I'd wear it with my parka – I love dumbing down something so 'haute', like I'd wear a cheap silver dollar earring with it as opposed to Chanel ones.

Are you lusting after any of Givenchy’s other panther-themed pieces??
The sunglasses – even if your hair covers the panther detail on the sides, the shape is strong and hard.

Do you own any statement hats – please describe them and where you have worn them to?
I just bought an Azzedine Alaïa hat from Dover Street Market. It's got massive cut-out metal eyelets. I wore it to 88 by Bistotheque, their five-night restaurant last month celebrating all things 1988.

It takes a certain type of person to pull of a strong-looking hat – who are your hat style icons?
LL Cool J in 1985.
