The former AnOther Magazine cover star and actor is raising money to help some of society’s most vulnerable in this unprecedented time

The Covid-19 pandemic is likely to affect society’s most vulnerable in both the short term and the long run. To this end, former AnOther Magazine cover star Indya Moore – best known for their role as Angel in Pose – is raising money for trans and queer people of colour in the United States as the outbreak continues.

In an Instagram post yesterday, Moore wrote: “Some of you may be asking ‘what about me?’ I hear you. In times of crises … well really … in times … all the time ... black trans women are the last of us all to receive help and resources if any at all. Its really important to me to prioritise those who will always be thought of last if thought of at all.”

“I am looking at all requests and I am looking at all trans folks in need,” they continued. “However, I am prioritising the needs of black trans women first, the ones who are least likely to have friends, boyfriends and families checking in or present at all. I hope you are too! I hope you all are exercising utmost precaution, social distancing and checking in on your elders during this time … Redistribution of wealth [has always] been important. But now its imperative!”

Donations are being processed through Cash App to $IndyaAMoore – more information can be found on their Instagram account. Currently, donations on the app have reached their limit (yesterday, Moore raised $7,500, which is already being distributed) but Moore will restart the scheme next Thursday.
