The Italian house announces that it will no longer use animal fur in its designs, starting with Spring/Summer 2020

This afternoon, Prada announced that it will be going fur-free as of Spring/Summer 2020. “As part of the Prada Group, Prada has announced, in collaboration with the Fur Free Alliance, that it will no longer use animal fur in its designs or new products, starting with Prada Spring/Summer 2020 women’s collections,” the announcement read.

The news was followed by a statement by Miuccia Prada: “The Prada Group is committed to innovation and social responsibility and our fur-free policy – reached following a positive dialogue with the Fur Free Alliance, in particular with LAV and the Humane Society of the United States – is an extension of that engagement. Focussing on innovative materials will allow the company to explore new boundaries of creative design while meeting the demand for ethical products.”

Prada follows numerous other brands and designers who have pledged to go fur-free in recent seasons, including Gucci, Burberry, Versace, Michael Kors, and Giorgio Armani, among others. Others in the Prada group, including Miu Miu, Church’s and Car Shoe, will also stop using the material as of Spring/Summer 2020.
