Marine Serre Spring/Summer 2019 CampaignPhotography by Tanguy Poujol

From some fiery trousers to a fresh fragrance, here is a small edit of things to spend your money on this May

Flame-print leather trousers by Marine Serre

Satisfy your inner pyromaniac with these flame-print trousers from Marine Serre’s S/S19 collection. The eagle-eyed among you will recognise these pants from Serre’s latest campaign (see above) – photographed by longtime collaborator Tanguy Poujol close to where the designer grew up – appearing alongside a real-life bonfire (and motorbiking dad). The trousers are available now at Browns and SSENSE – and, at the latter, triple-up with an exclusive matching bumbag and bucket hat. JM

Lousie Bourgeois-inspired earrings by Simone Rocha

Simone Rocha first discovered the work of artist Louise Bourgeois aged 16, and has been a fan ever since. This week, she has launched two pairs of earrings in collaboration with gallery Hauser & Wirth, which are based on Bourgeois’ Spiral Woman (2003) and Untitled (1995). They are a companion to her Autumn/Winter 2019 show, which saw her collaborate with the Louise Bourgeois Foundation on various prints and embroideries. “I think her work is an amazing lesson in how a moment in time or a feeling can be captured in a single artwork, or an item of clothing,” she told Liam Hess on AnOthermag.com yesterday. Get a pair by heading to Hauser & Wirth’s online store, Simone Rocha’s London or New York boutiques, or wait until later this month when they arrive in Dover Street Market worldwide. JM

Leather baskets by Loewe

At an exhibition staged as part of Milan’s annual celebration of design, Salone del Mobile, Spanish house Loewe presented some highly covetable basketry. Created by leading Spanish artisans specially for Loewe and the exhibition, the collection shown includes woven leather lampshades, intricate handheld basket bags, ornamental stones encased in braided leather, laundry baskets, and bangles rendered in the shape of bamboo sticks. The collection lands online and in Loewe stores on May 30 – for now, browse the pieces online and start making room for some chic new homeware. BH

Lipstick by Gucci

After launching in November 2014, Gucci’s promising new make-up line swiftly disappeared into the ether. But this month it’s officially back; with a line of lipsticks in 58 vibrant shades marking a new chapter in the Italian house’s venture in beauty, under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele. In keeping with Sig. Michele’s penchant for Hollywood glamour, the lipsticks are named after various starlets of the silver screen, from Bette Davis to Jean Harlow, with gilt packaging that wouldn't look out of place on a Chateau Marmont dressing table circa 1952. Choose from three different finishes: creamy Rouge à Lèvres Satin, sheer Rouge à Lèvres Voile, or Baume à Lèvres, a balm formulation providing a barely-there flush of colour. The line pre-launches on gucci.com tomorrow and will be available to purchase in UK stores from May 29, so get ready for your close-ups. HT

Eau de Minthé by Diptyque

Diptyque – the source of the world’s most delicious smells – has a new fragrance out this month, and this time it’s minty. Containing mint, obviously, as well as geranium and patchouli, this scent was inspired by the Ancient Greek story of the nymph Minthe who had an affair with the god of the dead, Hades, and was subsequently turned into a plant by either his wife Persephone or her mother Demeter (poor lass) – giving us the word ‘mint’ and proving that whether you’re a mythological nymph or a modern-day reality TV star, if you’re a woman, you’ll still get all the rap for cheating. Anyway, Eau de Minthé promises an aromatic freshness which, having given it a whiff, we can confirm to be true. TS

Tights by Montana

Earlier this year, Byronesque Vintage and Gareth Pugh teamed up with luxury online retailer Farfetch to produce an 11-piece capsule collection celebrating the legacy of revolutionary French fashion designer Claude Montana. Using archival garments as reference points, the re-issue highlighted his signature design codes: exaggerated proportions, oversized hoods, ample amounts of leather, and of course, humongous ‘do-not-F-with-me’ power shoulders. In addition, a series of coloured, sheer denier tights bearing Montana’s logo were created, which are now available to buy on byronesque.com in three shades: pale blue, lipstick red and classic black. However, it’s a limited edition run only – so get purchasing before it’s too late.

SUNDAZED by Byredo

Summer is on the way and Byredo has a new fragrance to celebrate. With top notes of mandarin and Californian lemon, and a heart of neroli and Arabian jasmine, SUNDAZED promises to take you on a “psychosomatic journey of free love”, which sounds quite exciting to be honest. The scent comes as a fragrance, an eau de parfum, hand cream and hair perfume – the latter two of which are available in airport-friendly sizes for when you go on holiday. TS

Sunglasses by Tom Ford

As summer approaches, so too the need for a fresh pair of sunglasses. Enter Tom Ford’s newest eyewear collection, which features classic shapes remixed with new details: from the appearance of the brand’s iconic T logo to an infinity symbol forming the bridge of the Sandrine style (one of our favourites).
