From a Typatone to Ryan McGinley's singing materfamilias, AnOther decodes this week's most inspiring internet ephemera

Jefferson Hack's Instatour of the Chanel Atelier
"Jefferson Hack visited Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel atelier just as his elevated S/S16 Chanel collection got ready for lift-off. What transpired was an Insta-tour of the renowned couturier's studio, hosted @anothermagazine, with Karl's quips accompanying a series of Hack's images for the ideal insight into the fantastical world of Chanel. "Everyone has a single ponytail... better to have one than two, no?" mused Lagerfeld of the double-pony hairstyles that graced his runway, with a wry reference to the fact that "I don't star in movies, I am not a famous singer. I have no scandal and yet I cannot go out in public because they all want to take my picture, so it's almost impossible for me to travel through airports." – The AnOthermag.com Team

Typatone
"For the desk-bound among us, typing is not generally a source of much joy; it’s a means to an end, a method rather than an amusement. This is set to change, however, with the arrival this week of Typatone, a new web- and mobile-based app created by expert computer programmer and Patatap creator Jono Brandel. The app allows every letter you type to sound a note, so that even the most mundane of emails are transformed into a auditory treat. Whether you view Typatone as a means to compose a symphony or simply a sweet new way to procrastinate, tap at your keyboard with glee!" – Maisie Skidmore

#MaryJaneSings
“I discovered #MaryJaneSings while perusing Ryan McGinley’s Instagram feed – after seeing his beautiful invitation for Chloé S/S16 – and it instantly brightened up an otherwise gloomy day. Mary Jane is McGinley’s fabulous mum, and she has an unrivalled penchant for singing. He has uploaded a series of videos (searchable via the hashtag) of her performing various numbers, often wielding props, and they’re nothing short of brilliant. McGinley once said of Mary Jane, 'She had seven kids in seven years, and then 11 years later she had me. According to her, I was 'a surprise from the baby Jesus.' She goes to church every day and she loves Reader’s Digest. She loves to photocopy and mail me articles about, like, a guy getting lost in the mountains and then Jesus guiding him to safety. I don’t think she’s ever told a lie in her life. Every time we talk she says, 'Oh Ryan, you march to the beat of your own drum.’” – Daisy Woodward

SSense's Fashion Buzzword Generator
"This season, the pace of fashion seems to have had a particularly bleak impact on a lot of journalists’ show reports – we’ve been noticing a lot of slightly hackneyed metaphors and rammed-together references describing S/S16 collections. This SSense Fashion Buzzword Generator is genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever been sent (shoutout to Dazed's Tim Noakes) – not only because it’s hilarious but also a depressingly apt reflection of a lot of commentary…” – Olivia Singer

Alvar Aalto’s Tea Trolley by Hella Jongerius
"One of Aalto's most coveted designs, the Tea Trolley 901 [1936], inspired by his travels to Britain during the period, undergoes a modern permutation for Autumn, courtesy of celebrated Dutch designer, Hella Jongerius. Boasting clean lines and a sleek but sturdy birch frame, it's a subtle but perfectly fitting homage to the collectable classic (and arguably the most impressive way to serve afternoon tea)." – Natalie Rigg

Susanne Deeken’s Instagram
“Susanne Deeken’s Instagram is my favourite, because it offers so many types of references that give an insight into lots of different cultures. Although she works in fashion, they’re never conventional fashion images – it’s just a really incredible archive of iconic photography and art, and an inspirational feed of visuals.” – Nell Kalonji
