In the first episode of Where It’s At, a new podcast hosted by Jefferson Hack, Graydon Carter talks about his new memoir, Oscar parties, and his ongoing spat with Trump
Today sees the launch of Where It’s At, a new podcast hosted by Jefferson Hack and presented by AnOther Magazine. The series brings together some of culture’s most influential players, including best-selling author Dr Deepak Chopra, poet, author and musician Patti Smith; artist Marina Abramović; theoretical physicist and best selling author Carlo Rovelli; and biologist Merlin Sheldrake.
“Everything always starts with a conversation,” says Hack. “It’s the spark that ignites great ideas. Every week I’ll be speaking to some truly great creative minds across all disciplines from art, music, literature, food, comedy and science about their latest projects; what drives them; their references and inspirations; their biggest risks, and the lightning bolt moments that sparked their breakthroughs. Each episode is a sonic portrait, opening new perspectives on culture, creativity and the times we live in.”
In the first episode, Hack talks to eminent publisher Graydon Carter as he launches his new memoir, When the Going Was Good. Together, they touch on the expense account culture and Oscar parties of Carter’s 25-year tenure as editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair, his co-founding of 80s satirical Spy magazine, his ongoing spat with Trump, Waverly Inn (the historic West Village tavern he took over in 2006), the powerful documentaries he’s produced, and the success of his newsletter Air Mail.
