Who? Seven designers from three London based studios, Eat Sleep Work/Play, Inventory Studio and Julia have come together to produce their own clever, graphic interpretation of the Phonetic Spelling Alphabet.

Who? Seven designers from three London based studios, Eat Sleep Work/Play, Inventory Studio and Julia have come together to produce their own clever, graphic interpretation of the Phonetic Spelling Alphabet.

What? Defining pronunciation across all languages, the Phonetic Spelling Alphabet was first implemented to establish better accuracy in communication between aircraft pilots. Hardly used in everyday speech, the exhibition explores the seemingly obscure words assigned to each letter, such as Zulu, Foxtrot and Oscar, with each graphic designer designing a visual aid to compliment each one.

Why? Already a success at the Rocket Gallery in Tokyo, Roger That! draws on the talent of seven international typography experts hailing from France, England, Switzerland, Italy and Brazil, assigned with the task of visualising four letters each chronologically laid out in the form of 26 A2 posters. Using Pantone colours, an installation has also been commissioned incorporating every single word into a complete story.

Roger That! at Kemistry Gallery, London runs 24 March – 6 April
