Why:? Founded in 2008, Shang Xia is a brand that is emblematic of the rise in China’s economic and also cultural positioning. A co-venture between Hermès and Chinese designer Jiang Qiong Er, the company fuses together the best of modern, yet heritage-based Chinese and Asian design. The brand's only boutique is located within Shanghai's luxury shopping hub. With a minimalist design and a breathtaking white sculptural ceiling, entering the store is like walking into a highly stylised dream. Alongside clothing, accessories and homeware are a range of cultural objects which nod to traditional Chinese values, demonstrating the company’s respect for the history of Chinese craftmanship.
