Created in collaboration with Diasporas Now, the ICA’s new talks and events programme celebrates artists as catalysts for imagining and shaping the future

Today, ICA, London has announced Speaking Futures, a new flagship programme of talks, performances and workshops celebrating artists as catalysts for imagining and shaping the future, in partnership with AnOther Magazine.

The first edition of Speaking Futures, taking place from April 2025 – February 2026, is created in collaboration with Diasporas Now, a live art collective founded by Rieko Whitfield, Paola Estrella and Lulu Wang (all of whom are currently in residence at the ICA). At London’s iconic experimental arts venue, located on the Mall, the programme will explore the intersection of art and technology, trace sound as political practice and reveal how the body becomes its own language through the practice of live art. “By bringing together artists and creatives working across disciplines, we hope to reimagine the future of the arts with collaboration, collectivity and connection at the core,” say the collective.

The series will unfold throughout Diasporas Now’s residency as they develop a cross-cultural programme of exchange and knowledge production, gathering artists together, sharing urgent discussions and inviting audiences to shape the journey. The first event, Dreaming Artist Futures, will take place on April 30, and will include a night of readings and artist presentations by Nour Jaouda and Helen Cammock, followed by a conversation chaired by curator and artist Amal Khalaf. Together they will explore artists as catalysts for imagining and shaping the future.
