After its postponement due to the outbreak of Covid-19, Paris Photo New York – which was set to take place this month – has moved its catalogue online, giving access to over 1,200 breathtaking photos

Like cultural events the world over, Paris Photo New York – the inaugural Stateside edition of the Parisian art fair, which is the largest in the world dedicated to photography – was postponed earlier this month, due to the outbreak of Covid-19. Due to take place at Pier 94, and spanning exhibitions, discussions, awards and events from the diverse network of photographers and institutions in the city, the organisers have chosen to move the fair online, offering access to the over 1,200 photographs which would have been exhibited.

With offerings from 173 galleries and publishers, and open to the public until April 30, the ‘Online Viewing Room’ provides an outlet for photographers and institutions to continue to exhibit work during the coronavirus crisis. Events such as these provide a much-needed opportunity to connect photographers with their collectors, and ultimately sell their work. In this spirit, the online catalogue also includes details for those wishing to purchase works or reach out to galleries – though is equally satisfying for those who simply want to explore a vast array of contemporary photography from the comfort of their own homes.

Some of the highlights include works by Paul Mpagi Sepuya – who recently spoke to Grace Wales Bonner on AnOthermag.com about staying creative during a pandemic in the first of our Conversations from Isolation – and AnOther contributor Tyler Mitchell, alongside numerous masters of the medium, including Nan Goldin, Andreas Gursky, Peter Hujar, Dorothea Lange, Sally Mann and Diane Arbus.
