After two weeks, four cities (five if you count Gosha Rubchinskiy’s show in Yekaterinburg) and countless collections, the A/W18 menswear shows are over. It’s been a season of hellos (Maison Margiela menswear) and goodbyes (Kim Jones at Louis Vuitton), and lots of great fashion in between. Here, before we dive into the couture shows and, before too long, the women’s shows, we take a look back at the standout moments of the last few weeks – from the best clothes to our favourite catwalk cameos.
1. Rottingdean Bazaar’s Wonderfully Weird Show
In my opinion, this is what fashion should be about: good fun and nice ideas. Rottingdean Bazaar had both in abundance. The show opened with a bird whistler and closed with a human dartboard and a man in a dress carrying a cardboard cut-out of Naomi Campbell. Brilliant. Read more.

Grace Wales Bonner is simply in a league of her own. Exploring the idea of Creole sailors, her new collection was impossibly elegant and showed just how talented a tailor she is. Read more.
Takahiromiyashita The Soloist A/W18Photography Federico Ferrari / Via Another Man
4. Undercover and The Soloist’s Florentine Foray
At Pitti Uomo, Jun Takahashi of Undercover and Takahiro Miyashita of The Soloist delivered an epic joint show. Takahashi’s took inspiration from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001 Space Odyssey, while Miyashita gave us a lesson in dressing for the apocalypse. Read more.

5. Violet Chachki Sissying That Walk at Moschino
On to Milan where Jeremy Scott provided us with another great catwalk camo: RuPaul’s Drag Race season seven winner Violet Chachki closed the Moschino show in a “tandem tux”. Yas queen. Read more.
6. Kim Jones’ Louis Vuitton swansong
In Paris, Kim Jones presented his final collection for Louis Vuitton. He went out in style, closing the show arm-in-arm with Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss, who were dressed in matching monogrammed Louis Vuitton trench coats. It was an emotional end to an extraordinary era. Read more.

7. John Galliano’s First Maison Margiela Men’s Collection
Featuring Tabi boots pour homme and Galliano’s idea of ‘new glamour’. A standout show of the season. Read more.

8. Vetements’ Return to the Catwalk
Last season Vetements chose to debut their new collection in the form of an exhibition, but this season it was business as usual. Gvasalia went back to his roots as a designer, back to Margiela – he played with the rules, serving up ‘off’ proportions, socks and sandals, tribal tattoo prints and his own take on the Tabi boot. 9. Martine Rose’s New Collection
In case this slipped you by, Martine Rose low-key-debuted her new collection too, via a lookbook. Shot by three different photographers – Sharna Osborne, Charlotte Wales and Heji Shin – this collection saw the designer revisit her last ten years of work. Read more.
